Ready to take your climbing to the next level? Intro to Trad Climbing is your gateway to the exciting world of traditional (trad) climbing, where the adventure and challenge truly begin. Led by me, Anouk of Pika Mountain Guides, this course is designed to introduce you to the unique skills, gear, and mindset of trad climbing in the breathtaking Mammoth Lakes region. During this hands-on course, you’ll gain a solid foundation in the fundamentals of trad climbing, including proper gear placement, building anchors, and mastering self-sufficiency on multi-pitch routes. Whether you're a seasoned sport climber looking to expand your skills or a newcomer eager to experience the true essence of climbing, this course will give you the tools you need to safely and confidently tackle trad routes. Course Highlights: Gear introduction: Learn the ins and outs of trad climbing gear, including cams, nuts, and slings. Anchor building: Understand how to build and evaluate safe, effective climbing anchors. Crack climbing techniques: Master the art of crack climbing and how to use your body to maximize efficiency and safety. Route reading & protection: Gain the ability to assess trad routes, place protection, and make informed decisions about safety.
